Rex The Dog’s
Analogue Rave
We are incredibly excited that pioneering electronic musician, producer, DJ and visual artist Jake Williams aka Rex The Dog is releasing his very first NFTs with Mynt.
They feature Jake’s own hand drawn art, the cheeky Rex the Dog character who Jake has been using for many years as his own avatar. The NFTs will be released in three ways. First, as hundreds of unique Rex avatars dressed in Jake’s own 80s/90s rave stylings as if they just stepped out of The Hacienda. These are for Jake’s most loyal fans and any early adopters. Next we will release dozens of exclusive animated NFTs, featuring the Rex character in front of Jake’s signature bank of analog synthesizers. Each video features an exclusive Rex the Dog mini track plus Rex being Rex: dancing, making music, getting into trouble, or just eating a hamburger while the banks of synthesizers glow and surprise. More suprises to come including new poses, exclusive tracks and more from Jake and Rex The Dog’s unique world.
Rex The Dog Talks About Music, His Creative Process and why NFTs.

has spent his career trying to recreate the magic of listening to Depeche Mode as a kid in Brighton, England.
After a commercially successful string of hits in the 90s as JX (“Son of a Gun” “There’s Nothing I won’t Do” etc) Jake reinvented himself in 2003 as Rex The Dog and dove into his drawing skills and love of the sounds of the 80s.
From the moment he heard the music as a kid, Jake has been obsessed with Depeche Mode’s Speak and Spell and the first Yazoo albums.“They didn’t sound like everything else. It was simple and economical and there was a clarity that you weren’t hearing in rock music or traditional pop music. The synthetic-ness of the sound was very exciting, the combination of the cold unemotional thing with the emotion of the songs, particularly with Alison Moyet’s voice, produces something really special. Something magic. To a degree, I try to mine that in Rex The Dog.”
“When I was doing JX, the people I was working with would, quite rightly it seemed at the time, point out and veto anything that sounded 80s. But suddenly with Rex The Dog, the shackles were off.”
Jake mines the tension in his own music by combining his love of analogue synths with digital technology. “I have a dancefloor head and a pop head. I’m possibly a home listener slightly more than a natural clubber.” Rex the Dog is a bit of both.
Jake’s joyful, timeless electronic music has meant many offers to remix other artists including Jake’s dream, an offer to work with Depeche Mode. ”Remixing Depeche Mode was not only the highlight of my musical career but it was a life highlight.”

“I am obsessed with the early Depeche Mode and Yazoo albums… the magic between the synthetic and the human. NFTs remind me of the same thing, a fascinating new hybrid creative material.”
